My journey into the martial arts  started in 1975. I stayed for three months in Carbondale Southern Illinois SIU 1979 where I enrolled in Taiwan university to study Mandarin in order to get a student visa and to find a Martial arts teacher. I then returned to America and lived in San Diego for three months where I taught Tae Kwon do at the San Diego YMCA. It was there where I met a friend and mentor who was one of my students and was like a father to me. He worked  for Kodak and J WalterThompson in advertising and mentored me how to promote myself.

I went back to Taiwan and began to play semi-pro basketball for the bank of Taiwan. From there, things got easier because my face was constantly on television.
